What Can You Do About Leaky Ducts?

Run your system, and check all the ducts and joints you can access. You can seal these yourself with mastic or foil-backed tape. You should also seal around where the duct meets the wall. Duct tape is actually not recommended for ductwork, and any fabric-backed tape will deteriorate over time. “In September, 2025 we had central air installed in our house. The air handler and duct work is in our attic. On a Saturday in February, 2026 we noticed a water stain in the ceiling around the vent in one of the rooms. We called Brockman Heating & Air right away. Nick came on that day and went in the attic, he took pictures and reported back to Ben at Brockmans. On Monday three technicians (Dave, Terry and Davaris) came to our house, rechecked everything and started the process of fixing the problem, warm air was going up through the cold air return which caused ice to build up in the duct work. All of the duct work was removed and we were told Ben would get with us with the plan to correct the problem. Ben called on Tuesday and told us that later that week guys would be out to install all new duct work in the attic. On Thursday a crew came to do the repair (Derek, Davaris and Juan). They did an excellent job. They respect our house by putting down floor covering, putting booties on and cleaned up the mess when finished, they were very friendly but did the job that they came to do. We cannot thank Ben and all of the crew enough for getting our problem solved right away. There was no saying the problem was our fault they just formed a plan and took care of the problem at no cost to us. Once again thank you Ben.
